Notes: One of only two known: Full plate gilt engraved movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, diamond endstone, Earnshaw single spring detent escapement, fine wheel train (5 crossings), fusee and chain with Harrison maintaining power, gilt three arm balance. Highly complicated dial with gold apertures and frames indicating accurate depiction of constellations, oval calibration of zodiac, outer ring with dates and degrees. Three pointers for position of sun, lunar calendar, two frames enclosing the horizon with cells for twilight and sunrise, aperture for lunar age, central dial for mean time, with harbour names to enabel the outer 24h dial to indicate tides, indication for solar and lunar eclipses. Mounted in gilt brass bowl, now in brass bound mahoganny box. dial 130mm, total 160mm
